Course Syllabus

There are several different ways to offer your syllabus in Canvas. You can:

  • Create the syllabus on Google Drive and link to it from anywhere in the course.
  • Upload a Word or PDF syllabus file to the "Files" area in Canvas, then link to it from anywhere in the course.
  • Type it or copy/paste it into the Syllabus tool area (where we are now). Using the built-in Syllabus tool has the added benefit of making the automatically-generated "Assignments Summary" available. This summary always appears at the bottom of the syllabus and offers a list of assignments, due dates, and a calendar. You and your students can jump directly to the summary by clicking the "Jump to Today" link in the top right corner of this page.

The example below utilizes all three options described above with a Google syllabus link at the top, followed by a syllabus file download link, and then a pasted syllabus with the automatically-generated Assignments Summary at the bottom.
